One and Only

I'll never forget how nervous I was when I asked my wife to marry me.  I knew she'd say yes, but I was still extremely nervous.  Then the moment came, I got down on one knee and asked the famous question... "Will you marry me?".  Essentially I was saying I want you to be my one and only.  Now, let's imagine that I had asked her to be my first of many.  I'm pretty sure it would have been an immediate "NO".

In 2 Chronicles 33 this guy named Manasseh comes to the realization that there is no one like God...

2 Chronicles 33:12-13 NLT  “But while in deep distress, Manasseh sought the Lord his God and sincerely humbled himself before the God of his ancestors. And when he prayed, the Lord listened to him and was moved by his request. So the Lord brought Manasseh back to Jerusalem and to his kingdom. Then Manasseh finally realized that the Lord alone is God!”

How did he arrive at this realization that "the Lord alone is God".  It all started with humility.  Verse 12 states that he "sincerely humbled himself".  We live in a culture that worships whatever gets results.  We give the title "God" to whatever allows us to keep our ways.  As a result, we end up entertaining some weird mixture of beliefs, some truth and some completely wrong and we call it all together, "God".  This is very troubling to think that we could give random beliefs that powerful of a title in our lives.  The only way we discover for ourselves if what we call god is the true God is to humble ourselves.  On the other side of admitting that we might be wrong, we realize that the Lord alone is God.

He is the one and only.
